The City of Carmi would like to remind residents of some local ordinances. It’s once again the time of year that yards need to be mowed. Please do not blow grass clippings into the road as that is against local ordinance and fines may be issues.
Residents and businesses are reminded that a Building Permit, for which there is not cost, is required for new buildings or homes, yard sheds, carports, swimming pools, fences, planting trees, pouring concrete/asphalt and other items which may require digging large holes or setting a large item. Demolition Permits are required to tear down a home or other large structures. Building and Demolition Permit applications are available at cityofcarmi.com or by calling 618-384-2001.
Finally, City Hall is receiving a number of complaints about un-mowed yards and those full of trash. Residents are asked to keep their property mowed and picked-up. Fines may be issued for yards that are not mowed or that are full of trash.
