As part of the Carmi Chamber of Commerce’s Shop Carmi First effort, a kick off for the campaign will be held April 10-12, 2014.
On Thursday, April 10, Business After Hours will be hosted by Merle Norman Cosmetics and Boutique, located at 325 E Main in Carmi, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be available as individuals browse the store to see what is offered and available in one of Carmi’s retailers. Chamber Director Holly Healy stated, “I appreciate Jo Haley’s willingness to host a Business After Hours in her store. This provides the public an opportunity to see and purchase the merchandise available in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.” Additionally, Merle Norman Cosmetics and Boutique will be having a special drawing Thursday- Saturday as part of the Shop Carmi First kickoff.
On Friday and Saturday, April 11 and 12, Healy will be out and about periodically to catch those that “Shop Carmi First.” Ten individuals found making purchases in Carmi will be treated to a $5 gift card to another Carmi Chamber of Commerce retailer. “It is my hope that by providing a $5 gift card to another business that the Chamber is able to help showcase what other retailers in Carmi have to offer. We want to have folks set foot through the doors of our businesses in Carmi so our merchants have the opportunity to promote their goods and services. When we spend our money in Carmi, more of our money stays here in Carmi; be it through businesses and store owners purchasing goods and services in Carmi or through our tax dollars,” said Healy.
The Chamber also encourages members of the Chamber of Commerce to use their Member to Member Discount Cards during this special weekend. Current discounts may be found at www.cityofcarmi.com/the-chamber and includes offers from Logo Graphics, Old National Bank, Old National Investments, Reppert’s Office Supply, H.D. Bean’s Jewelers, Middle Sister’s, Taylor Eye Care, Yesterday’s Drive In, HLS Health and Wellness, Dave Matheny State Farm, Merle Norman Cosmetics and Boutique, Browns Fertilizer and Chemical, Huck’s and James Cook State Farm.
