The Carmi Chamber of Commerce held their 78th Annual Dinner on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the White County VFW Post 3851 in Carmi.
The audience heard the State of the City from Mayor Jeff Pollard. The White County CEO Class of 2022-2023 was also introduced to the audience.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of several awards. Campbell Energy LLC was presented with the 2022 Business of the Year. “This company generously gives to many, many causes in White County,” former Carmi Chamber of Commerce president Amber Knight said prior to presenting Jake Campbell with the honor. “Their name can be seen on the backs of our kid’s uniforms, on banners for events and festivals, and helping to keep some of our youth programs alive by donating money and equipment with no recognition at all. The impact that their existence has on our County can be seen in our economy, in our workforce and in our youth.”
Tammy Knight was named the 2022 Carmi Citizen of the Year. Knight was nominated for her work in volunteering to reunite lost pets with their owners and finding homes for unwanted and discarded pets, along with raising awareness to spay and neutering pets, and numerous fundraisers to help shelters and pet owners with needed funding.
During the dinner, new Chamber of Commerce President Lacey Harms made remarks and gave outgoing Past President Lindsay Schoenheit a service award for her years of service to the chamber and business community. Additionally, she presented the first ever Young Professional of the Year Award to local entrepreneur, Cody Gottman.
Chamber Executive Director Kelly Northcott thanked outgoing directors Sarah Hale, Larissa Hays, Jeremy Jordan, and Catlin Keepes. Those continuing service on the Board of Directors include Vice President Abby Weiss, Secretary Katelyne Wolff, immediate Past President Amber Knight, Eric Rahlfs, David Templeton, Amy McCarty, and Adam Winkleman, Justin Dartt, Landon Bayley, Malinda Nelson and Jc Tinsley, and joined by newly elected Luke Sailer, who will be serving on the Executive Board as Treasurer, along with Hannah Howard, Amanda Nelson, Megan Goff and Amber Carney.
