Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament Results Announced

The Carmi Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Golf Tournament was played on June 28, 2014 at the Carmi Country Club with a total of 99 golfers competing.
The winning team was from Geo. N. Mitchell Drilling with a score of 53. The team from Elastec finished second with a score of 54. The team from the City of Carmi finished third with a score of 55. Taking home the Longest Putt award was Ron Shetler. Howard Churchwell won the Closest to the Pin Award. Longest Drive for Women was won by Abbie Bryant with Alex Nelson winning the Men’s Longest Drive. Bill Brown won the Senior Longest Drive.
Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Chamber’s scholarship program. The Chamber provides one graduating Carmi White County High School student a $4,000 college scholarship, which is distributed $500 per semester as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 grade point average. Cassie Mick, Hannah Gowdy, both current scholarship recipients, were in attendance to welcome the afternoon players. Cole Fechtig was in attendance to welcome the morning players.
