An Ordinance Regarding Tampering with Water Meters
Be it ordained by the Mayor and City Council of Carmi, Illinois:
Article 1. Tampering
Section 1. The service of any customer in which a water meter has been tampered with, in any attempt to cause an inaccurate metering or restore service shut off due to non-payment, shall be immediately discontinued.
Section 2. Such service shall be reconnected after payment of a penalty by the user to Carmi Light and Water, and may be established at the sole discretion of the City. The first offence will be a fine of $400. The second offence will be a fine of $450. Each additional offence will be a fine of $500.
Section 3. All ordinances inconsistent with the above are hereby repealed.
Effective immediately upon passage and approval.
