An Ordinance Regarding Tampering with Electric Meters
Be it ordained by the Mayor and City Council of Carmi, Illinois:
Article 1. Tampering
Section 1. The service of any customer in which an electric meter has been tampered with, in any attempt to cause an inaccurate metering or restore service shut off due to non payment, shall be immediately discontinued.
Section 2. Such service shall be reconnected after payment of a penalty by the user to Carmi Light and Water, and may be established at the sole discretion of the City. The first offence will be a fine of $200. The second offence will be a fine of $300. Each additional offence will be a fine of $500.
Section 3. All ordinances inconsistent with the above are hereby repealed.
Effective immediately upon passage and approval.
