The City of Carmi will be adding a lower lobby with a pneumatic tube system at ground level of City Hall, located at 225 E Main Street. The new environmentally controlled lobby will be located in the middle section of the building that is currently open between the two staircases. This new lobby will be unlocked 8am-4pm Monday thru Friday once construction is completed.
The Street & Alley Department will be doing the construction work on both the roof and the structure. Additionally, City Hall will receive a fresh coat of paint.
During this time of construction, out of safety concerns, the public is asked to use the Light & Water drop boxes in the front or back of the building for bill payment. As always, customers may also call 618-382-5555 for assistance or to pay bills over the phone. Online bill payment and payment by mail are also available.
The City of Carmi will update the public once the new lower lobby is open. “We hope our changes will help serve the public better,” stated Mayor Jeff Pollard.
